An article from Cointelegraph shows Bitcoin code from 2009 revealing Satoshi Nakamoto was hiding behind a Russian proxy, where a user named Sergey was posting reviews of hotels in Vietnam in December 2008 and January 2009, logging into the site with the same proxy as Satoshi.
Vietnam is a popular destination for Russian developers seeking to escape the harsh Russian winters. Russian-speaking individuals were involved in the Bitcoin community from the outset, with the Russian language forum being the first non-English section on Bitcointalk. Telltale signs of this involvement can be seen in the Bitcoin code, where Satoshi appears to have used a Russian proxy. The decoding mechanism, which involved removing zeros and converting hexadecimal notation to decimal, reveals an IP address linked to this proxy, in which another user named Sergey was also using.
The following email shows a private email between Satoshi and Half Finney, in which Satoshi explains that he had created what is today is commonly known as a vanity address. A vanity address is a custom address that includes a personalized pattern or word, created by generating many possible addresses until one matches the desired pattern. With this method, Satoshi states that he created an address with his initials. The crucial part of this email is the date, Jan 12, 2009; this is 4 days after the first bitcoin block.
Block 264, FOUR days after BTC’s first block, (Jan 12, 2009, same date as the email in reference) the address “1CFBdvaiZgZPTZERqnezAtDQJuGHKoHSzg” mined 50 BTC. Keep in mind that this was the SAME day that the infamous FIRST transaction within the bitcoin network occurred (on block 170). So how do we know that this address which begins with the alias of a prominent developer within crypto (CFB) isn’t just a coincidence?
The address is a vanity address meaning that it wasn’t random & that someone purposely made it. We know this due to the fact that the address does not contain any numbers besides the mandatory “1” in the beginning.
The alias “Come-from-Beyond” or “CFB” as he is commonly called nowadays, has existed before Bitcoin’s conception. This is known because he has published articles under this name dating all the way back to the year 2000.
